Todd Johnson

Todd Johnson was elected by the citizens of District 1 in Newberry County to serve as their voice to county government.  He began his service to council in January of 2021.

Todd is a bi-vocational Pastor in the Whitmire community.  He works as a Consultant for a technology company.  He also has his own company Rock and Shield Consulting, LLC, through which he provides training and services related to active shooter training and other school, church, and business-related issues including topics such as sexting and social media.

Todd retired from law enforcement after 31 years of service in March of 2020.  He retired as the Chief Deputy of the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office in Newberry, South Carolina.  In 2012, Todd received the highly prestigious Strom Thurmond Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement from the United States Attorney General’s Office.  Todd has received several other honors in his law enforcement career including the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year, the Newberry County Exchange Club Law Enforcement Officer of The Year, the Bill Shealy Award for Outstanding Leadership, and the Exchange Club Book of Golden Deeds Award for a lifetime of public service.

Todd is very active in the community and served as Past President of The Whitmire Ministerial Association, Past President of the Whitmire Lions Club, and Past Chairperson of the School Improvement Council. 

In his spare time, Todd loves officiating little league and high school sports. Todd has worked numerous playoff and state championship games in football, basketball, and baseball.  In 2010, he worked a state championship game, the North South All Star game, and the Shrine Bowl.  He has worked 8 High School Football State Championship games and was inducted in the South Carolina High School Football Officials Hall of Fame with the 2019 class of inductees.  He has also been selected to umpire in the DYB World Series five consecutive years.

Todd is a Bi-Vocational Pastor of The Master’s Baptist Church in Whitmire, where he has served since May of 2002.  The church continues to experience tremendous spiritual and physical growth as Todd continues to serve as Pastor.  He also serves as the bi-vocational pastoral liaison for the Reedy River Association to South Carolina Southern Baptist Association. 

Todd is also an avid runner.  He has completed 15 half marathons and 1 full marathon as well as numerous 5 and 10K runs.

Todd still makes him home in Whitmire with his beautiful wife Kerry.  They have three wonderful grown children: Joshua, Kaitlyn, and Andrew. 

Todd has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Biblical Studies from Trinity University and Seminary and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Luther Rice University.
