The Newberry County Detention Center is located at 3239 Louis Rich Drive in Newberry.

The detention center is the only detention center in Newberry County and provides jail facilities for every law enforcement agency in Newberry County including the Newberry County Sheriff's Office, Newberry Police Department, Whitmire Police Department, Prosperity Police Department, South Carolina Highway Patrol, South Carolina Transport Police, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, South Carolina Department of Probation, Pardon, and Parole, and other agencies employing certified law enforcement officers with arrest powers.

The Newberry County Detention center has 32 officers including the administrative staff. The Newberry County Detention center is licensed to house 134 inmates. The detention center averages approximately 2400 bookings per year.

The Newberry County Detention Center has been recognized for cutting edge technology including electronic fingerprint submissions to both SLED and the FBI, an electronic commissary system, video visitation and other cutting edge technology.
