The Warrant Division is assigned to manage and ensure that all active criminal and mental health warrants received by the Sheriff’s are served. A warrant is an official document signed by a judge or other person in authority which gives law enforcement permission to search someone’s home, business or vehicle, arrest a person or take some other action.
When a criminal warrant is received in the Warrant Division an immediate process begins towards the execution of the warrant. The unit handles the entry of all local warrant information into the in-house Records Management System (RMS) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Once this process has been completed, the warrant is assigned to uniform deputies where attempts are made to locate and apprehend the wanted person. When the fugitive is apprehended or the warrant is cleared by other methods, the warrant is properly cleared and returned to the court clerk of its origin.
The Warrant Division cannot do it alone. You can send information or tips to tips@ncso.sc.gov or you can log onto the Crime Stoppers website or call 1-800-392-STOP (7867) to provide any information you may have in helping us in identifying the location of the Most Wanted Fugitive(s). All tips received will remain anonymous. Your assistance can lead to the apprehension of a known fugitive and help get the criminal element off the street.
